After the recent tariff move by the US administration against China in the global markets, attention is now focused on the interest rate decision. The Federal Reserve (FED) had kept the policy interest rate unchanged at 4.25-4.50%. This talked-about decision was made with a vote of 11 to 1. Those closely following the economic agenda are now waiting for the new interest rate decision. So, when will the FED interest rate decision be announced? According to the decision announced by the Federal Reserve (FED) at the March meeting, there will be no change in the policy interest rate, keeping it at 4.25-4.50%. Based on the Monetary Policy Board calendar, there will be no meeting in April. The Federal Reserve interest rate decision will be announced on May 7th at 22:00 after the meeting to be held on May 6-7. Providing forecasts for the economy, the Fed kept its forecast for the federal funds rate at 3.9% by the end of this year, unchanged from last December. The Fed left its forecasts for the federal funds rate in 2026 and 2027, as well as the long-term average interest rate expectation, at 3.4%, 3.1%, and 3%, respectively. The forecasts indicated that the Fed continued to foresee 2 rate cuts in 2025. The Bank’s inflation forecasts increased from 2.5% to 2.7% for this year, from 2.1% to 2.2% for 2026, and remained at 2% for 2027. Forecasts for core inflation, excluding volatile energy and food prices, were revised from 2.5% to 2.8% for this year, while remaining at 2.2% for 2026 and 2% for 2027. The US economic growth forecast was reduced from 2.1% to 1.7% for this year, from 2% to 1.8% for next year, and from 1.9% to 1.8% for 2027. Unemployment rate forecasts remained unchanged at 4.3% for this year, next year, and 2027.
