Collective Bargaining for Public Sector Workers: Statement from Türk-İş after Meeting

A significant meeting was held today in the wage negotiations for nearly 600 thousand public sector workers. It was reported that the employers, represented by TÜHİS, HAK-İş, and Türk-İş, conducted negotiations on the items during the meeting.
Following the joint wage proposal prepared by HAK-İş and Türk-İş presented to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security on February 25, attention turned to the employer side, Türk Enterprises & Service Sector Employers Union (TÜHİS). Representatives from TÜHİS engaged in discussions with Hak Workers’ Unions Confederation (HAK-İŞ) and Turkey Workers’ Unions Confederation (TÜRK-İŞ) officials based on the workers’ proposal.
After the meeting hosted by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Türk-İş Vice President Ramazan Ağar made statements.
Ağar mentioned that they conducted negotiations on the items and stated that they would meet again on April 24.
Ağar also mentioned that they are not expecting the employer side to present a proposal in the next meeting and said, “It is not a process that will be resolved immediately.”
WHAT ARE THE DEMANDS OF PUBLIC SECTOR WORKERS? Public sector workers are demanding an increase in the minimum daily wage to 1800 lira. Following this increase, a 50% wage increase is requested for the first six months of 2025.
For the subsequent six-month periods, a 25% wage increase is requested, along with a 10% welfare bonus.
