Vodafone Offers 5G Experience at Beşiktaş-Galatasaray Derby

Vodafone, after completing the infrastructure setup at Beşiktaş Tüpraş Stadium, will bring users the 5G experience during the Beşiktaş-Galatasaray derby on March 29. Users with 5G-enabled phones will be able to receive services through the new infrastructure.
Vodafone, operating with a vision to lead Turkey’s digitalization, continues its preparations for the path to 5G without interruption.
In this context, Vodafone, who completed the 5G installation work for the Beşiktaş-Galatasaray derby to be played at Beşiktaş Tüpraş Stadium on March 29, has started providing 5G signals throughout the stadium.
Users with 5G-enabled devices can activate 5G from the device’s network settings and receive services via the new infrastructure. Engin Aksoy, CEO of Vodafone Turkey, said: “We continue our preparations for 5G in cooperation with public authorities. As mobile operators, in this phase of the process starting from Istanbul Airport, we are introducing 5G technology to football fans in the stadiums of our four major clubs. We will also provide 5G signals during the Beşiktaş-Galatasaray derby at Beşiktaş Tüpraş Stadium on March 29. Users who have 5G-enabled devices and enable 5G from the network settings can experience this technology. The number of subscribers experiencing 5G services is increasing every day, and the increasing number of such experience areas is beneficial for 5G preparations. Users can access details about 5G-enabled phones from operators’ websites.”
“We conducted Turkey’s first stadium concert with a 5G test signal three years ago” Aksoy, stating that they have been working in the 5G field for a long time, said: “5G, with its speed and capacity, will unlock unprecedented productivity levels and reduce latency to a minimum, providing significant benefits to both individuals and the industrial environment.
Implemented in 14 countries to date
With the strength from Vodafone Group’s global experience which has implemented this technology in 14 countries to date, we have been working for a long time to offer 5G to institutions and individuals in our country.
In this context, we had a pilot study in the area of Customized Mobile Network at Tofaş. Tofaş utilizes this local network solution to connect people and objects in an area of approximately 1 million square meters. We completed Turkey’s first 5G Customized Mobile Network installation at MEXT, founded by the Turkey Metal Industrialists’ Union, which is the world’s most comprehensive digital transformation and competency development center.
“We are happy to bring the speed and quality of 5G to football fields as well.”
Three years ago, we conducted Turkey’s first stadium concert with a 5G test signal. Last season, with the 5G-supported Şahin Gözü system we applied in the Vodafone Sultanlar League play-off final series, we enhanced the viewing experience of volleyball spectators in the hall and in front of the screen. During the Volleyball Nations League, we installed 5G at the Antalya Sports Hall, enabling real-time statistics and measurements from matches to be sent to other broadcasters around the world through 5G.
This season we are also using the 5G-supported Şahin Gözü system in the normal season matches and Play-Off 1-4 Stage matches at Burhan Felek Vestel Volleyball Hall. We are pleased to bring the speed and quality of 5G to football fields following volleyball.”
