Vocational High School Graduates Receive 28,736 TL Pocket Money: What is the On-the-Job Training Program?

Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan, made an important announcement regarding the On-the-Job Training Programs. Minister Işıkhan stated that participants receive a monthly pocket money of 22,104 TL, and announced that the allowance given to vocational high school graduates has been increased by 30%, reaching 28,736 TL. Youth who wish to benefit from the 28,736 TL pocket money scheme are researching the On-the-Job Training Program. Minister Işıkhan, through his social media account, disclosed details about the pocket money scheme. Highlighting the privileges granted to vocational high school graduates in the “On-the-Job Training Programs” aimed at supporting employment, Minister Işıkhan stated, “We ensure that vocational high school graduates specialize in terms of knowledge and experience with the “Active Labor Programs.” Minister Işıkhan mentioned that participants in the On-the-Job Training Programs receive a pocket money of 22,104 TL, noting that vocational high school graduates are paid 30% more. Emphasizing that the amount paid to vocational high school graduates is 28,736 TL, Işıkhan said, “We will continue our work that shapes our policies according to the needs of our labor market in this field and support our graduates financially.”
WHAT IS THE ON-THE-JOB TRAINING PROGRAM?
An on-the-job training program is organized to provide vocational experience to unemployed individuals registered with İŞKUR and increase their employability. Requirements to Benefit From On-the-Job Training Programs include being an unemployed İŞKUR registrant, being at least 15 years old, not being a first or second-degree relative or spouse of the employer, not being retired, not being insured under the employer’s tax number within the year prior to the program start date, not having completed a course/program of the same profession organized by the institution, not being subject to any sanctions against participating in the program, and meeting the requirements related to job and career counseling services. Additionally, an individual can benefit from a vocational training course or on-the-job training program a maximum of two times, and the total number of benefits from courses and programs cannot exceed three times. The Duration of On-the-Job Training Programs can be planned for a minimum of 5 hours and a maximum of 8 hours per day, not exceeding 6 days a week, ensuring not to exceed 45 hours per week. The program duration is a maximum of 6 months in the information technology and manufacturing sectors, and a maximum of 3 months in other sectors. For young people aged 18-29 participating in on-the-job training programs in fields considered as the professions of today and the future, such as cyber security, cloud computing, game development experts, and coding, the duration of the on-the-job training program is applied for a maximum of 9 months. Programs are organized in compliance with the Ministry of Education’s Lifelong Learning modules or university education modules in dangerous and very dangerous professions, ensuring that the minimum duration of daily training does not fall below 5 hours and does not exceed 8 hours, with a maximum of 6 days per week, 45 hours per week, and 240 days per year.
