Various Food Frauds Uncovered During Ramadan

Food inspections did not slow down during Ramadan, as the list of unreliable foods was updated. An incident revealed that pistachio baklava produced by a company contained sunflower seeds. Deceptions were found in sausage, cheese, and olive oil. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry intensified food inspections during Ramadan. The list of foods that threaten health due to imitation or adulteration was updated. Deceptions in sausage, olive oil, and baklava were included in the list. With the latest update, the number of products in the list of imitation and adulteration-1 rose to 1,052, while the number in the list of imitation and adulteration-2 increased to 80. A total of 199 products were listed as posing a health risk. A notable finding from the March 6th list was the discovery of sunflower seeds in pistachio baklava produced by a company. Chicken parts and offal were found in sausages, seed oil in olive oil, and vegetable oil in white cheese.
