Unions reached a compromise on the public sector worker’s pay raise demand

The countdown has begun for the pay bargaining of 600,000 public sector workers. The agreed pay raise demand by TÜRK-İŞ and HAK-İŞ will be presented to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security next week.

Unions have completed their preparations for the 2025 Public Sector Collective Labor Agreements Framework Protocol that concerns 600,000 public sector workers.

At TÜRK-İŞ, Vice President Ramazan Ağar and at HAK-İŞ, Vice Presidents Devlet Sert and Halil Çukutli led the joint efforts of the two confederations to determine the common pay rate agreement. The shared pay raise demand by the two confederations was prepared taking into account wage losses against inflation, as well as a share for prosperity. Unlike previous periods, the new pay raise demand includes additional clauses and will be separately presented to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security by TÜRK-İŞ and HAK-İŞ next week. After the presentation of the workers’ demands, attention will turn to the government, which will evaluate the demands and start the negotiation process.

OTHER CONTRACTS ARE ALSO INVOLVED

On the other hand, the 8th Period Collective Contracts negotiations, covering the years 2026-2027, where the pay raise rate for about 4 million civil servants and 2.5 million civil servant retirees will be determined, will begin as of August 1. In this context, the 2025 Public Sector Collective Labor Agreements Framework Protocol, relevant to public sector workers, as well as the Collective Labor Agreement of the Turkey Metal Employers’ Union (MESS) Group and other sectoral collective labor agreements to be signed in the private sector, carries significant importance.
