The UK’s Office for National Statistics (ONS) released data on unemployment and wages for the period of November 2024 to January 2025. Accordingly, unemployment rose to 4.4% in this period, marking a 0.1 percent increase compared to the previous quarter. Unemployment also saw a 0.3 percent increase on an annual basis. During this period, the increase in employees’ salaries excluding bonuses was 5.9% annually, while the increase in salaries including bonuses was recorded at 5.8%. Adjusted for inflation, there was a yearly increase of 2.1% in total wages and 2.2% in regular wages.
