Unemployment Slightly Increased in the UK

In the United Kingdom, the unemployment rate increased by 0.1 percent to 4.4% during the three-month period covering November 2024 to January 2025. The UK’s Office for National Statistics (ONS) released data on unemployment and wages for the period of November 2024 to January 2025. Accordingly, unemployment rose to 4.4% in this period, marking a 0.1 percent increase compared to the previous quarter. Unemployment also saw a 0.3 percent increase on an annual basis. During this period, the increase in employees’ salaries excluding bonuses was 5.9% annually, while the increase in salaries including bonuses was recorded at 5.8%. Adjusted for inflation, there was a yearly increase of 2.1% in total wages and 2.2% in regular wages.
