TÜSİAD Urges Tightening Belts in Public Sector

A call for tightening belts in the public sector has been issued by TÜSİAD. The President of the High Advisory Council, Ömer Aras, emphasized the necessity for the government to cut expenses equally as citizens do. The regular general assembly of the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD) is taking place today in Istanbul. Speaking at the opening, TÜSİAD’s High Advisory Council President, Ömer Aras, mentioned that the trust environment for investors has not been established by 2024 and that a strong fight against inflation is required by 2025. Aras also stressed the importance of preventing export market losses and the government tightening its belt at the same level as its citizens. He highlighted the need for the state to adhere to budget discipline and increase savings in the public sector. TÜSİAD President Orhan Turan also commented that, despite supporting economic policies, it cannot be said that everything is going smoothly. He emphasized the importance of the rule of law, stating, “Without establishing the rule of law, we cannot solve internal or external issues.”
