On March 11th, a cyber attack was launched on the database of internet service provider TurkNet. In the statement from TurkNet, it was noted that some customers’ identity information was obtained in the cyber attack.

The attack was stated not to include customers’ financial information and TurkNet user passwords. DATABASE ATTACK According to the statement, despite the measures taken within the scope of the Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK), a cyber attack targeting the database of the institution was carried out. The following statements were used: “During this time, the level of necessary technical and administrative measures has been increased, and security has been ensured. There has been no interruption or problem in our service after the incident. In the breached database, there are names, surnames, phone numbers, subscription numbers, T.C. ID numbers, identity information, TurkNet subscription circuit information, addresses, and static IP information of some customers.” “CURRENT PASSWORDS CAN BE SAFELY USED” The statement emphasized that the attack did not include customers’ financial information and TurkNet user passwords, and that this information was securely encrypted. The statement indicated that work would be carried out in coordination with relevant public institutions for the identification of those responsible for all these attempts and the initiation of necessary legal processes. The statement further stated, “Necessary breach notifications have been made to the Personal Data Protection Authority and the Information Technologies and Communication Authority. As of now, all additional measures have been meticulously implemented, and you can safely use our Online Transaction Center and mobile application with your current password. We will continue to inform you of any developments related to the process.”
