Internet service provider TurkNet’s database was subjected to a cyber attack on March 11th. The statement from TurkNet mentioned that some customers’ identity information was obtained in the cyber attack.
It was emphasized that the attack did not include customers’ financial information or TurkNet user passwords. DATABASE TARGETED ATTACK Within the statement, it was noted that despite the measures taken under the Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK), there was a cyber attack on the organization’s database. The following statements were used: “At this time, the level of necessary technical and administrative measures has been increased, and security has been ensured. There has been no interruption or issue in our service following the incident. The database that was breached contains the names, surnames, phone numbers, subscriber numbers, ID numbers, identity information, TurkNet subscription transfer information, address, and static IP information of some of our customers.” “CURRENT PASSWORDS CAN BE SAFELY USED” The statement highlighted that the attack did not compromise customers’ financial details or TurkNet user passwords, ensuring that this information was securely encrypted. It was indicated that efforts to identify the perpetrators of these actions and initiate the necessary legal processes would be carried out in coordination with relevant public institutions. The statement mentioned that the Personal Data Protection Authority and the Information Technologies and Communication Authority were informed about the breach.
