The Turkmen gas will set off towards Turkey tomorrow. Minister of Energy Bayraktar announced that the Turkmen gas will meet the needs of 1.5 million households. Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar stated that the delivery of Turkmen gas will commence tomorrow, and the 1.3 billion cubic meters of gas arriving by the end of the year will fulfill the needs of 1.5 million households. Bayraktar mentioned that Turkey will be making gas supplies from a country beyond its borders via pipeline for the first time in over 20 years. He indicated that the supply process will be carried out through swap method, contributing directly to Turkey’s long-term energy supply strategy. Mentioning that the talks began in 1998 and concluded 27 years later, Bayraktar announced that they will extend this agreement with Turkmenistan for another 5 years. The plan is to deliver the gas coming from Turkmenistan to Iran through the Stateabad-Serahs-Hangeran Natural Gas Pipeline and then to Turkey via swap method. The gas received at Gurbulak in the Iran-Turkey natural gas connection point will be put to use in Turkey.
