Turkey’s Automotive Export to the EU Reaches Approximately $7 Billion

According to information compiled from the Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association and the Turkey Exporters Assembly, during the January-March period, EU countries took the lead with a 72.6% share in Turkey’s automotive exports.

The automotive sector’s export in the January-March period reached $9,494,834,000 from $9,125,528,000 in the same period last year, showing a 4% increase. During the first quarter, the automotive industry exporting to more than 190 countries, autonomous, and free zones accounted for 16.8% of Turkey’s total exports.

A 13% increase in automotive exports to EU countries was observed during the mentioned period. When looked at individually, in the January-March period, EU countries held the top spot in Turkey’s automotive exports with a 72.6% share. The exports to EU countries in the first three months increased by 13% from $6,110,387,000 to $6,893,869,000 compared to the same period last year, maintaining their position as the most important market for automotive exports.

EXPORTING APPROXIMATELY $1.5 BILLION TO GERMANY

Germany, which is the primary market for the automotive industry, also became the top export destination in the first quarter of this year. The automotive exports from Turkey to Germany in the first three months of last year amounted to $1,263,157,000, increasing by 18% to $1,491,390,000 in the same period this year. Additionally, the second-ranked France, another significant market for the automotive sector, saw a 13% increase in exports, reaching $1,102,509,000 in the first three months of the year.
