Trump’s Move to Save Apple

The Trump administration exempted products such as smartphones, computers, and chips from mutual customs duties. This decision is expected to have a positive impact on companies like Apple and Samsung. US President Donald Trump exempted smartphones, computers, and some electronic products from mutual customs duties. It was stated that this step could benefit electronic giants like Apple and Samsung. According to a report in Bloomberg, the exemption decision will be valid for smartphones, laptops, hard drives, computer processors, and chips. A significant portion of consumer electronics products was not manufactured in the US. It was said that with customs duties, there could be significant price increases in these products. It was also noted that it could take years for production to return to the US. Apple, which produces in China, was expected to see increases of up to 45% in its phone prices. Samsung, which uses Vietnam as a production center, was also expected to be negatively affected by the tariffs. While the delay in these products was said to be temporary, it was indicated that a different tariff could be applied for these products. It was reported that Apple brought around 1.5 million iPhones from India to the US in order to avoid being affected by the new tariffs announced by Trump.
