Trump’s Deception Regarding Tax Cuts Hits American Working-Class Hard

Have you heard the saying that numbers do not lie? It may not hold true when President Trump is the one uttering the numbers.
The figures that Trump shares are not accurate. If he were to receive a math grade for his recent address to Congress, he would certainly fail.
Trump is unlike a student who fails to complete their homework; he is a president who consistently lies to deceive the public, justify his misconduct, and divert attention from the harm he is inflicting on Americans and the long-term damage to the country.
Despite Trump’s claims of a new prosperous era for America, the reality is that both he and Republican lawmakers are prepared to betray Americans and the nation’s future to provide substantial tax cuts to billionaires like Elon Musk.
The recently approved budget by House Republicans is significant but not commendable. Their primary focus is on implementing $4.5 trillion in tax reductions that mainly benefit the wealthiest Americans. Their actions will escalate the national debt, reduce funds to support struggling families and communities, and necessitate drastic cuts in Medicaid.
Experts who analyze the budget plan proposed by Trump and the Republicans forecast that the top 0.1 percent of taxpayers would receive an average tax reduction of over $300,000. Meanwhile, the richest 200,000 multimillionaires would obtain more money compared to 187 million families.
While the wealthy individuals would profit, lower-income households would face further financial struggles due to Medicaid and food stamp cuts that would be essential for the success of Trump’s tax-cut venture.
Senator Elissa Slotkin criticized Trump’s intentions, highlighting that he aims to furnish his billionaire associates with an unparalleled gift. She cautioned that this generosity would have a financial cost on the lives of ordinary citizens in various aspects.
Trump’s recent speech included numerous false statements about the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) led by Elon Musk. The purported goal of DOGE seems to be to undermine the government’s role in safeguarding American workers, consumers, and communities from corporate malpractice.
To support the mass dismissal of public servants and the subsequent damage to families and communities, Trump and Musk have resorted to falsehoods regarding fraud.
In his address, Trump claimed that DOGE had identified “hundreds of billions of dollars of fraud,” which is far from reality. DOGE’s fraudulent assertions and claims of savings have been consistently exposed, refuted, and withdrawn. Trump also echoed unsubstantiated allegations from Musk about Social Security payments to centenarians.
As Musk secures government contracts worth billions while dismissing employees who investigate his companies, and Trump continues to engage in corrupt activities benefiting his supporters, the American population is subjected to a rule where wealth dictates law, favoring the affluent.
Nonetheless, a different pathway is plausible, supported by certain figures. A majority of Americans who participated in the 2024 election did not vote for Trump, and a significant portion of eligible voters refrained from voting. The widespread American sentiment opposes a tax strategy that chiefly benefits the wealthiest, and most individuals prioritize preserving Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
Several millions of people can be rallied to defend their neighbors, communities, and nation from the adversities, criminal behavior, and corruption imposed by those in power.
