Regarding the customs duties imposed by the US, more than 75 countries have expressed readiness to negotiate with the US.

According to a press release from the White House, the Trump administration could impose tariffs up to 245% on imports from China based on these developments.

It is said that Trump imposed customs duties on countries with which the US has the largest trade deficits to “create equal terms and protect America’s national security.”

The application of individual high tariffs for countries willing to negotiate trade agreements has been suspended. The only exception is China, which retaliated against US tariffs. The White House emphasized that “as a result of retaliatory actions, China is currently facing tariffs of up to 245% on US imports.” In April, Trump had raised the tariffs on Chinese goods from 84% to 125%, combined with existing 20% tariffs, bringing the total tariff burden to 145%.

In response, China raised the tariff on American goods from 84% to 125%. According to Reuters, Chinese officials have instructed to launch a diplomatic campaign to encourage other countries to oppose the US tariffs.
