Surveillance on Divorces! Thousands of Salaries Cancelled, to be Reclaimed with Interest

The Social Security Institution has initiated close monitoring of fraudulent divorces. The orphan benefits of 2,404 individuals who divorced but continued to live in the same house as their ex-spouse have been terminated. Steps have been taken to reclaim the paid allowances with interest. Additionally, insurance coverage for 94,000 individuals has been cancelled. The Social Security Institution (SSI) identified 2,404 individuals who divorced to receive orphan benefits but continued living with their ex-spouse in its 2024 inspections. The SSI continues its inspections against informal employment, fake workplaces, false insurances, and other irregularities with a team of over 3,000 inspectors. Last year, the institution inspected 124,982 cases of informal employment and 12,684 cases of fake workplaces and insurances while continuing its efforts against fraudulent divorces. FRAUDULENT BENEFITS RECIPIENTS CAUGHT In 2024, a total of 3,002 inspections were carried out nationwide for individuals who divorced to receive orphan benefits but continued living with their ex-spouses. In these inspections, it was found that 2,404 individuals were receiving monthly allowances through fraudulent divorces. Legal actions were taken against these individuals, and necessary steps were initiated to reclaim the paid allowances with interest by the SSI. INSURANCES OF 94,000 INDIVIDUALS CANCELLED In the inspections carried out by the SSI in 2024, it was revealed that 2,114 workplaces were fake, and a total of 94,740 individuals who were not employed but had insurance premiums paid or were falsely listed as insured through fake workplaces had their insurance cancelled. A total of 2,036,732,000 TL in fines were imposed on these establishments due to informal employment. In efforts to bring these workplaces and employees into the social security system, insurance coverage was established for 21,634 individuals and registration was provided for 518 workplaces.
