The BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul started the week with a rise of 0.92 percent, reaching 9,748.03 points.

At the opening, the BIST 100 index increased by 89.31 points and 0.92 percent to 9,748.03 points compared to the previous close. The banking index gained 1.42 percent, while the holding index rose by 0.78 percent. Among sector indices, the technology sector gained the most with 1.67 percent, while the textile leather sector was the only one to lose with 0.14 percent. Following a selling-dominated trend in the domestic market on Friday, the BIST 100 index closed the day at 9,658.72 points, losing 0.85 percent.

Despite concerns about the U.S.’s protectionist trade approach in the global markets, there was a positive trend after signals from the data suggesting that inflationary pressures may have eased. Today, attention is turned towards domestic inflation data to be announced.

On the other hand, Borsa Istanbul announced that the uptick rule in short selling transactions for shares included in the BIST 50 index will continue today. Analysts stated that today domestic inflation and Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI), as well as global manufacturing PMI data, and inflation data from the Eurozone will be closely monitored. From a technical perspective, the support levels for the BIST 100 index are at 9,700 and 9,600 points, while resistance levels are at 9,800 and 9,900 levels.
