Stock Market Started the Week with an Increase

The BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul started the week with a rise of 0.80% at 9,456.17 points. At the opening, the BIST 100 index rose by 75.22 points and 0.80% to 9,456 points compared to the previous close. The banking index gained 1.12%, while the holding index gained 0.76%. Among the sector indices, financial leasing factoring was the highest gainer with 1.31%, while sports was the biggest loser with 0.19%. On Friday, BIST 100 index followed a predominantly upward trend, ending the day up 0.45% at 9,380.95.
In global markets, positive trends are being observed due to statements indicating that some technology products imported to the USA will be evaluated within the scope of reciprocal tariffs rather than new tariffs, and increasing optimism regarding negotiations. Meanwhile, domestically, attention turns to balance of payments data on the first trading day of the week, with economists participating in AA Finans’ expectation survey predicting a $4.325 billion deficit in the current account for February. Economists forecast that the current account deficit will reach $21.970 billion by 2025. Analysts noted that today, the domestic current account balance will be monitored while the foreign data agenda remains calm, and technically, the BIST 100 index has resistance at 9,600 and 9,700 points, and support at 9,400 and 9,300 levels.
