The BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul started the day with a 6.87% decrease at 10,060 points. After losses exceeded 5% at the opening, the circuit breaker was triggered.

The BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul started the day with a 6.87% decrease at 10,060 points.

Following the sharp drop in the index, the circuit breaker system was activated at 09:55, temporarily halting trading.

The banking index lost 7.02% and the holding index lost 6.69%. While all sector indices dropped, communication suffered the most with a 7.56% loss. In the domestic market, the BIST 100 index, which followed a selling-heavy trend yesterday in Borsa Istanbul, ended the day with a 0.55% loss at 10,802.23 points.

In addition, it was decided to implement the upward tick rule for short selling transactions in the stocks included in the BIST 50 index for today’s session. Analysts noted that technically, the support levels for the BIST 100 index are at 10,000 and 9,900, while 10,100 and 10,200 points serve as resistance levels.
