Stock market opens flat for the day

The BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul started the day at 10,421.64 points, maintaining a flat trend.
Borsa Istanbul continues to trade flat above 10,000 points.
At the opening, the BIST 100 index decreased by 0.60 points and 0.01% to 10,421.64 points compared to the previous closing. While the banking index gained 0.29%, the holding index remained flat. Among sector indices, communication was the biggest gainer at 0.87%, while forestry and paper printing were the biggest losers at 1.68%. In the domestic market, Borsa Istanbul followed a sales-heavy trend yesterday, with the BIST 100 index closing the day at 10,422.24 points, losing 0.81%. In the global market, tension in trade increased alongside the U.S. tariffs and signals from economic data strengthening recession concerns, resulting in selling pressure. Furthermore, it was decided that the Borsa Istanbul will implement an upward tick rule for short selling transactions for the shares in the BIST 50 Index for one day in today’s session. Analysts noted that retail sales domestically and the JOLTS job openings data in the U.S. will be monitored today. From a technical standpoint, they highlighted that the support levels for the BIST 100 index are 10,300 and 10,250 points, while the resistance levels are at 10,500 and 10,600.
