Short selling regulation to be implemented in the stock exchange today

The upward tick rule for short selling in the BIST 50 index on the Istanbul Stock Exchange will continue today. Following the sharp price movements in the stock market last Friday, the Borsa Istanbul management had reintroduced the upward tick rule for short selling. It has been decided that this rule will continue to be implemented today. According to the statement from Borsa Istanbul, it was stated that the upward tick rule would be applied for short selling transactions on the shares included in the BIST 50 index for one day during the session on February 25. Short selling transactions on eligible shares can be carried out at a price higher than the last transaction price of the financial instrument to be short sold for the entire day. If the last transaction price of the financial instrument to be short sold is higher than the previous price, the short selling transaction can also be conducted at the last transaction price level.
