The Capital Markets Board has decided to ban short selling transactions on Borsa Istanbul AŞ stock markets and facilitate share buybacks for publicly traded companies. This decision will be valid until the end of the session on March 25th.

In a statement issued by the CMB, it was stated:

Due to recent developments in the Borsa Istanbul AŞ markets, some measures have been taken by our Board. To ensure the reliable, transparent, efficient, stable, fair, and competitive operation and development of the capital markets, as well as to protect the rights and interests of investors, transactions carried out on the Borsa Istanbul AŞ are constantly monitored by our Board. Recent developments in the Borsa Istanbul AŞ markets have necessitated the taking of some measures by our Board. Therefore, from March 24, 2025, until the end of the session on April 25, 2025, the ban on short selling transactions on Borsa Istanbul AŞ stock markets, the facilitation of share buybacks for publicly traded companies, and the relaxation of the equity ratio for the continuation of margin trading transactions have been decided.
