Rush on Halved Ground Beef Prices in Ramadan

Due to the Ramadan month, discounted meat products were offered in the chain supermarkets across Turkey. The market, which attracted significant attention due to the discounts, saw long queues forming at the butcher’s counter.
As Ramadan began, some supermarkets decided to stabilize prices for meat products.
Following this decision, customers looking for cheap meat in a chain store that updated prices formed long queues.
The price of ground beef, which averaged between 500 and 600 TL per kilogram at butchers, was offered for sale at 379 TL. Citizens from surrounding districts flocked to the market in Haramidere to buy cheap meat. Customers waiting in line for minutes expressed that the prices were worth the wait. The market manager, Uğur Ekiz, stated that Ramadan created significant demand in the food sector, with increased interest in meat and other staple food products during this period. Ekiz said, “Ramadan has arrived with its blessings. There is a significant demand, especially for our butcher’s counter. We have discounted prices in our branches nationwide. Throughout Ramadan, we stabilized red meat prices. We offered the ground beef for 379 TL, and diced meat for 399 TL. Apart from that, we have achieved discounts of up to 50% on all staple foods, especially from oil to tomato paste. We will continue this campaign until the end of Ramadan.” Ekiz stated that they were doing their best for customers to benefit from the campaign fully, mentioning that discounts would continue after Ramadan. Stressing the high demand for red meat products, especially ground beef and diced meat, Ekiz highlighted, “We are experiencing a considerable increase in white meat group as well. Alongside, we sell approximately 15-20 tons of meat daily. We cannot produce enough meat, and we have to wait. It is essential for us to provide fresh, clean, and reliable products. We prepare our products in a hygienic environment daily, serving high-quality and halal cuts. Our goal is to share Ramadan’s blessings with our people and to make them meet these products at affordable prices.”
“I WAITED FOR HALF AN HOUR, BUT IT WAS WORTH IT” Ahmet Yapıcı, who stated that he waited in line for half an hour to buy meat, expressed that the prices were worth it, saying, “The prices here are genuinely excellent. The meats are quality, and we always buy here. There is a significant difference in prices compared to outside. I have been in line for half an hour, but it’s worth it,” expressing his satisfaction. Another customer, Melahat Doğru, said, “The prices are excellent, I also bought a kilogram of meat. I have been in line for an hour, but it’s worth it. I came here from Avcılar. Truly high-quality products and very reasonable prices.”
