Restriction on Lemon Export Lifted

Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat announced that the temporary restriction on lemon exports has been lifted. Bolat emphasized that inspections will continue. Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat shared on his social media account that upon returning from his various commercial contacts in the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Abu Dhabi, he met with lemon producers from various regions of Turkey at the Ministry. Bolat mentioned that the meeting included Deputy Ministers of Trade and Agriculture and Forestry, AK Party members of parliament, and provincial chairs. Farmers and exporters from Mersin, Adana, Antalya, as well as Erdemli, Silifke, Tarsus, Finike, and Kozan attended the meeting, along with representatives from trade and agricultural chambers. “COMBATING SPECULATIVE ACTIVITIES” Bolat stated that during the meeting, industry representatives’ demands and expectations, measures to ensure supply security, steps to balance supply and demand, and the roadmap for the upcoming period were discussed. He noted: “At the meeting, we agreed with valuable participants that speculative activities will not be tolerated until the new harvest to ensure the public’s access to the product at reasonable prices and to maintain price stability. Accordingly, the temporary restriction on lemon exports has been lifted, and the price developments in the domestic market will be closely monitored with determination in the upcoming period, while inspections will continue. As a government, we will continue to protect and support our farmers, producers, exporters, traders, and consumers.”
