Requirements for Market Surveillance and Inspection of Vehicles and Components Established

Common criteria for the market surveillance and inspection of vehicles, systems, components, and technical units have been determined. The Regulation on Administrative Conditions Regarding the Market Surveillance and Inspection of Vehicles, Systems, Components, and Separate Technical Units prepared by the Ministry of Industry and Technology has been published in the Official Gazette and entered into force. The regulation establishes common criteria, report formats, and provisions regarding the information to be provided for the market surveillance and inspection of vehicles, systems, components, and separate technical units, as well as the procedures and principles for their implementation. The regulation was prepared in line with European Union legislation. The regulation covers motor vehicles in the “M” (moped) and “N” (at least four-wheeled, motorized cargo vehicles) categories intended for use on roads, as well as their trailers in the “O” category, along with their systems, components, separate technical units, parts, and equipment. Accordingly, the adequacy of conformity verification checks carried out by the market surveillance and inspection body, the frequency of checks conducted on vehicles registered in Turkey last year, the number of vehicles registered for the first time by brand and trade name, and verified complaints per brand and trade name of vehicles in the last three years will be determined based on criteria like these. The market surveillance and inspection body will prepare an annual review report on planned market surveillance and inspection checks in the specified format. Additionally, a report will be written on the findings obtained following conformity verification checks conducted every two years. Parties will be required to provide information to the market surveillance and inspection body indicating that they have met these requirements.
