Regulation on Eel Fish Export

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has reorganized the principles for granting eel fish export quotas. The Amendment on the Granting of Eel (Anguilla Anguilla) Export Quotas and Issuing of CITES Certificate Notification Prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has been published in the Official Gazette and has come into effect. With this notification, regulations have been made regarding the allocation of eel fish export quotas. Accordingly, eel fish catches, stock inventory of products obtained before the fishing ban, export permit, and the issuance of transport and origin certificates will be carried out according to the principles in the Official Gazette published on August 11, 2024, regarding the Regulation of Commercial Fishing of Aquatic Products. In terms of sales notification, companies wishing to export eel fish will use their Internet-based Fisheries Information System (SUBİS) username and password. Companies without records in SUBİS will have their records created by provincial directorates, and they will be provided with a username and password. Each company operating in this field will organize a separate sales notification for each eel fish in each transport and origin certificate. PRINCIPLES FOR THE ISSUANCE OF FISHING CERTIFICATE Companies willing to export eel fish will apply to the authorized provincial directorate for the issuance of a fishing certificate after completing the sales notification entry. Based on the requested quantity for export, a fishing certificate will be issued via SUBİS by the authorized provincial directorate. PROCEDURES FOR CITES CERTIFICATE Eel fish exports will be carried out according to the customs tariff statistical positions in the Notification on the External Trade of Endangered Wild Species of Animals and Plants published in the Official Gazette on February 27, 2011. Those intending to export this fish will submit their CITES certificate requests to the Ministry through https://citesbasvuru.tarimorman.gov.tr/. Those wishing to export live eels must have an interval of maximum 15 days between the approval date of their transport and origin certificates submitted to the Directorate General of Fisheries and Aquaculture during the application process.
