In the month of January, 2.2 million foreign tourists visited Turkey, breaking the monthly tourist record. Last month, the majority of tourists came from Iran. Turkey made a strong start in tourism for the year 2025. The number of foreign visitors who visited Turkey in January approached 2.2 million. Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy shared the figures on social media. According to provisional data from the General Directorate of Security, the number of foreigners visiting Turkey in January increased by 6.06% compared to the same month last year, reaching 2,171,118. Among the foreign visitors in January, Iranian citizens ranked first with 240,643 individuals. They were followed by the Russian Federation with 203,733 individuals and Bulgaria with 165,792 individuals. Germany and Georgia followed these countries. Istanbul was the province with the highest number of foreign visitors entering Turkey in January, with 1,268,000 visitors. This was followed by Edirne, Antalya, Artvin, and Hakkari. Turkey, which met its goal of 61 million tourists and $61 billion in revenue in 2024, aims for 64 million tourists and $64 billion in revenue in tourism this year.
