The automotive market for both cars and light commercial vehicles set a new record in March with 116,900 units sold. The market share of electric and hybrid vehicles also peaked at 42%. Car and light commercial vehicle sales reached a new peak in March, increasing by 6.4% compared to last year, totaling 116,900 units. The market share of electric and hybrid cars exceeded 42%, reaching a new high. According to data from the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD), car sales in March rose by 5.5% to 91,828 units, while the light commercial vehicle market grew by 10.2% to 25,072 units. Despite low credit amounts and relatively high interest rates, increasing demand and the introduction of new models into the market played a role in the strong performance of sales in recent months. Light vehicle sales in the first quarter recorded a 6.5% decrease with 276,284 units sold. However, light commercial vehicle sales achieved the second-best performance in history following last year’s record. Pure electric and hybrid car sales in March saw a 123.3% increase compared to last year, totaling 38,724 units and claiming a 42.2% share of the car market.
