Rapid Decrease in Exchange Protected Deposits

Withdrawals from exchange protected deposit and participation accounts (EPDA) accelerated last week. The total EPDA balance approached 879 billion liras.
According to data from the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA), EPDA accounts decreased by 40 billion 248 million liras in the week ending on February 21.
The total EPDA balance decreased from 919.6 billion liras to 879.3 billion liras.
As a result, the EPDA size accounted for 4.43% of the total deposits.
Total deposits in the banking sector, including interbank ones, increased by 168 billion 365 million liras last week, reaching 19 trillion 871 billion 247 million liras.
