With Ramadan fast approaching, there is an increase in activity at the market. Those looking for affordable products wandered through the stalls in Istanbul’s Eminönü. As the days until Ramadan dwindle, the shopping frenzy has begun. Once again, many people are heading to Istanbul’s Eminönü. Dates are an essential part of Ramadan, with prices varying based on size, quality, and variety. The price per kilo of dates starts at 140 lira and can go up to one thousand lira. A 30% increase can be seen in date prices compared to last year. The most expensive dates are the ones from Jerusalem, starting at 650 lira and going up to one thousand lira.

Among the popular breakfast items are olives and cheese. Black olives range from 170 to 430 lira per kilo. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) will distribute free bread during Ramadan to those in need. The IMM will set up iftar tents in many parts of Istanbul and will also provide mobile buffets. Additionally, the IMM will provide 2,000 lira worth of Ramadan Coupons to 100,000 households. In various locations across the city, concerts, theaters, movie screenings, and special events will be organized throughout the month of Ramadan.
