The number of real estate properties sold in January and February in Turkey reached a record high of 471,694.

All sales of properties such as houses, land, workplaces, and commercial real estate started the year quickly and continued this momentum in February as well. While property sales in January increased by 20.2% compared to the same period in 2024, reaching 238,938, February sales also rose by 7% to 232,756. Combining the first two months, it was observed that real estate sales increased by 13.2%, reaching 471,694.

This data has set a new record as the highest January-February figure of all time.

Looking at the January-February periods, the previous highest sales figure was in 2023 at 419,894. In the first two months of 2020, 418,414 real estate properties were sold. WILL DEMAND FOR HOUSING CONTINUE? Industry representatives noted that the continued decrease in real prices in the housing sector and the shortening of payback periods revived sales, stating that the demand that started in the second half of last year persists. Representatives also reported that a significant portion of investors wanted to utilize their gains in gold, foreign exchange, and stock market in real estate, while citizens who anticipated interest rate cuts were trying to act quickly.

RECORDING A 73% INCREASE IN LAND REGISTRY INCOME IN TWO MONTHS Real estate sales record also reflected in land registry revenue. A total of 3,208,031 transactions were made in the land registry in the January-February period. Approximately 472,000 were sales, 229,000 were mortgages, 73,000 were transfers, 21,400 were corrections, 11,400 were expropriations, 9,700 were separations, and 4,800 were mergers. Other transactions approached 2.4 million. The revenue obtained from transactions recorded in the land registry in the first two months increased by 73.3%, reaching 18 billion 982 million Turkish Liras.
