New Era in Vehicle Inspections: Card Commission Not Reflected to Citizens

A new era is beginning in vehicle inspection services. From now on, credit card commission fees will not be reflected to citizens.

The Privatization Administration Presidency (PA) has initiated a new tender process for the privatization of vehicle inspection services for 20 years. The deadline for submitting proposals in the tender conducted by the PA ended yesterday. Privatization procedures will be completed by August 15, 2027 to ensure the continuity of public service. The privatization agreements signed on August 15, 2007 will expire on August 14, 2027. According to the regulations regarding vehicle inspections, tenders are initiated at least 5 years before the expiration date of the contract. CITIZENS WILL NOT PAY CARD COMMISSION As per the relevant legislation, during the 20-year concession period, 30% of the inspection fees for the first 3 years, 40% for the next 7 years, and 50% for the last 10 years will be transferred to the Treasury as public share. In the new era, credit card commission fees for inspection fee payments made with credit cards will not be reflected to citizens and will be covered by the operators. Operators will be responsible for building inspection stations and making all necessary machinery-equipment investments. THERE ARE 31 MILLION VEHICLES Also, there is an obligation to open new stations due to the increasing number of vehicles during the 20-year period. Inspections of motorized and non-motorized vehicles registered in traffic will be carried out in line with European Union standards within the scope of privatization tender. There are approximately 31.3 million vehicles in Turkey, with cars constituting the majority. Currently, the country has 223 fixed and 93 mobile inspection stations operating.
