Narrowing of the current account deficit in the United States

In the United States, the current account deficit decreased by 2 percent in the fourth quarter of last year, falling to $303.9 billion. The U.S. Department of Commerce released the current account balance data for the October-December 2024 period. According to the data, the country’s current account deficit narrowed by 2 percent compared to the previous quarter, reaching $303.9 billion in the fourth quarter of last year. Market expectations for the current account deficit in this period were around $330 billion. The U.S. recorded a current account deficit of $310.3 billion in the third quarter of last year. The ratio of the country’s current account deficit to GDP was calculated as 4.1 percent in the last quarter of last year. This ratio was at 4.2 percent in the third quarter of last year.
