Minister Uraloglu: Ongoing Work at Damascus Airport

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu noted that they have completed the installation of air-ground radio systems at Damascus Airport. Minister Uraloglu stated, “We have started using communication systems at the Damascus Tower.”
Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu expressed that they continue their efforts to revitalize the Damascus Airport, which suffered damage during the 13-year Syrian Civil War. Providing information about the work carried out in Syria, Minister Uraloglu mentioned that the installation of air navigation devices and security systems sent from Turkey is ongoing. He also mentioned that as of February 20, the first technical team has completed their tasks and handed over the operations. Uraloglu further stated that on February 21, a new team of 23 DHMI personnel arrived at Damascus Airport to take over duties and started working.
“We Installed Two New Radio Systems”
Uraloglu underscored that Turkey extends support to all critical areas from air traffic control systems to security infrastructure. Highlighting the significant damage to the control mechanisms of Damascus Airport, Uraloglu said, “Initially, we installed two new transmitter-receiver radio systems to enhance flight safety. We are carrying out maintenance and repairs of navigation devices.”
“We Repair Faulty Systems” Emphasizing that safety is a top priority at Damascus Airport, Uraloglu expressed that the security level of the airport has been raised with equipment sent by Turkey. Minister Uraloglu mentioned the presence of devices such as X-Ray and explosive trace detectors among the delivered equipment, and also noted that Turkish engineers and technicians are putting in intensive efforts on the field to restore the airport infrastructure to operational status.
Uraloglu stated, “We are reviewing the existing systems used at the airport, as well as repairing the faulty ones.” COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS ARE IN OPERATION Minister Uraloglu indicated that the integration of the radio systems at the Damascus Tower with voice recording devices has been completed as part of the work carried out at the airport. He also mentioned that they have repaired the non-operational NDB (Non-Directional Radio Beacon) device and made it operational again. “We have completed the installation of air-ground radio systems. Communication systems have been tested and are now being used at the Damascus Tower,” Uraloglu said. He also announced that they have repaired and put into service 3 airport rescue and firefighting vehicles.
