The Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, assessed the inflation data for February. In a statement made on social media, Şimşek used the following expressions: “The annual inflation, which has been declining for nine months, stood at 39.1% in February. The annual inflation for essential goods dropped by 32 points to 21.7% compared to the same month last year, while the service inflation dropped by 35 points to 59.8%. Thanks to fiscal and revenue policies supporting the disinflation process and the improvement in expectations, we expect the stable decline in inflation to continue. We will implement our policies decisively to achieve price stability that will permanently improve the purchasing power and income distribution of our citizens.”
