Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek has reacted to the allegations made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel regarding the MASAK report.

Minister Şimşek made a statement regarding the allegations of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel about the MASAK report. In his statement on social media, Minister Şimşek used the following words: “Despite many statements made regarding baseless allegations and accusations, the ongoing remarks of the main opposition leader towards me are directly an assassination of reputation and cannot be presented under the guise of politics. In accordance with the binding provision of the Code of Criminal Procedure on the confidentiality of investigations, MASAK directly transmits the information requested by the prosecution without receiving the opinion, directive, or approval of any authority. The report mentioned by Mr. Özel is merely a technical document containing data and does not contain any interpretations. All reports prepared by MASAK, regardless of the title of expert/assistant expert, have the same legal effect and validity in accordance with the legislation. The leader of the main opposition party must use a more dignified language, Mr. Özel should not lie and slander.”

WHAT HAD ÖZEL SAID?
Özel, in his statement on Halk TV, had accused Şimşek, saying, “He appoints an assistant expert with his own instructions. A false MASAK report is signed and sent. Şimşek has remained silent about MASAK, which is under his control, being used in a political operation.”
