Emphasizing that the boycott calls did not succeed and that the Turkish economy gained during this process, Bolat said, “Comparing April 1 to April 2, purchases were made twice as much in value.” “INTENSE PARTICIPATION IN SHOPPING” Sharing on his social media account, Bolat highlighted that the government’s efforts to support trade, the national economy, and craftsmen by integrating with the people were met with great enthusiasm by the public, stating: “Despite April 2 being the day after a three-day Ramadan Holiday, with the majority of our people making serious expenditures on the eve and during the holiday, they actively participated in shopping to disappoint the boycott calls and boycotters at shops, markets, shopping malls, restaurants, cafes.” “OUR PEOPLE BOYCOTTED THE BOYCOTTERS” Referring to the statistics of the Interbank Card Center (BKM), Bolat reported that card shopping, which was 14 billion liras on April 1, rose to 28 billion liras on April 2. Drawing attention to the fact that shopping on April 2 exceeded the daily averages of the period from March 3 to March 22, Bolat noted: “Moreover, only 55% of card transactions pass through BKM. The remaining 45% of card transactions are shared with BKM within 5 days by banks. These results show that our people boycotted the boycotters. Our people supported their economy, trade, craftsmen, and domestic brands.
