Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, held meetings with his German, Italian, Polish, Russian, French counterparts, and the Japanese State Minister during the G20 meetings. Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, conducted intense diplomatic traffic at the G20 meetings. The Ministry of Treasury and Finance shared on social media about the meetings that Şimşek held as part of the G20 meetings held in Cape Town, South Africa. According to the posts, Şimşek met with German Finance Minister Jörg Kukies, Italy’s Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti, the President of the EU Council and Polish Finance Minister Andrzej Domanski, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, and France’s Minister of Economy, Finance, and Industry Eric Lombard. During the meetings, Şimşek and his counterparts discussed bilateral relations, Turkey-EU relations, the importance of regional integration, mutual investments, trade issues, and collaboration opportunities in third countries. Furthermore, Şimşek also had a meeting with Japanese State Minister Hiroaki Saito. In the meeting, Şimşek thanked Minister Saito for the support of the Japanese government for the status change of Turkey in the Asian Development Bank and the assistance provided after the earthquake.
