Inspection of Confectionery and Pastry Shops Before the Holiday

Prior to the holiday, inspections were carried out in shops producing sweets and confectionery. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry teams conducted inspections of shops producing sweets, confectionery, and bakery products where consumption is expected to increase before the Ramadan holiday. The teams of the General Directorate of Food and Control affiliated with the Ministry intensified their inspections to ensure that citizens access safe food before the Ramadan holiday approaches. In Ankara, as part of the inspections conducted at the production and sales points of these products, samples were taken from the products by the teams, and whether there were any violations of hygiene rules was examined. We have imposed administrative fines on approximately 5,500 businesses that we deemed risky for public health in food inspections.” Dilber pointed out that they have imposed administrative fines of more than 500 million lira in these inspections and said that they have filed criminal complaints against 150 businesses they found to be risky in terms of public health and food safety. Dilber emphasized that they carried out nearly 126,000 of the inspections during Ramadan and stated, “In the inspections during Ramadan, we imposed approximately 220 million lira in administrative fines.”
