Increase in the Number of Oil Drilling Rigs in the US

The number of oil drilling rigs in the US increased by 1 this week, according to weekly data published by the oilfield services company Baker Hughes. As of February 7-14, the total number of oil drilling rigs in the country rose by 1 to reach 481, compared to the previous week. However, the number of oil drilling rigs in the US has decreased by 16 in the past year. The price per barrel of Brent crude oil closed Thursday at $74.91 and ended Friday at $75.02. Meanwhile, the price per barrel of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil closed Friday at $71.29, slightly higher than the $71.26 it closed at on Thursday.
