Increase in Agricultural Input Prices

In December 2024, the agricultural input price index showed a 32.49% increase on an annual basis and a 2.13% increase on a monthly basis.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) released the Agricultural Input Price Index (Agri-GPI) data for December of the previous year. Accordingly, the index rose by 2.13% compared to the previous month, 32.49% compared to the previous December, and 40.94% compared to the twelve-month averages in December 2024.

Compared to the previous month, there was a 1.9% increase in the index for goods and services used in agriculture, and a 3.46% increase in the index for goods and services contributing to agricultural investment. Compared to the same month of the previous year, there was a 30.62% increase in the index for goods and services used in agriculture and a 44.23% increase in the index for goods and services contributing to agricultural investment. According to the annual Agri-GPI, 4 subgroups showed lower changes, while 7 subgroups showed higher changes. The subgroups with lower increases compared to the same month of the previous year were identified as fertilizers and soil improvers with 21.45% and agricultural chemicals with 22.14%. The subgroups with higher annual increases were seed and planting material with 52.31% and other goods and services with 52.07%. In the monthly Agri-GPI, 8 subgroups showed lower changes, and 3 subgroups showed higher changes. The subgroups with decreases were listed as other goods and services with 0.49% and buildings with 0.6%. The subgroups with higher monthly increases were materials with 3.86% and fertilizers and soil improvers with 2.98%.
