Heavy fines of 200 million lira in inspections for inflated prices

The Ministry of Trade announced that a total of 200.9 million lira in administrative fines were imposed on 9,926 individuals during inspections targeting price gouging during Ramadan.

The Ministry of Trade initiated inspections ahead of the Ramadan holiday.

According to the statement released by the Ministry, 46,474 companies were inspected through Provincial Directorates of Trade in 81 provinces throughout the month of Ramadan, resulting in 9,525 companies and 46,507 products found in violation and penalized with 134.6 million lira in administrative fines.

The statement included the following statements:

“During March, which also includes the month of Ramadan, a total of 200.9 million lira in administrative fines were imposed on 9,926 individuals, and in the first 3 months of 2025, a total of 27,321 individuals and legal entities were penalized with 655.2 million lira. Inspections carried out by Provincial Directorates of Trade in all 81 provinces resulted in 134.6 million lira in fines in March and a total of 296.4 million lira in administrative fines in the first 3 months of 2025.”
