Green Beans Crowned Price Champion in Istanbul

In Istanbul, the product with the highest price increase in March was green beans, with a 60.36% surge. The biggest drop, at 26.03%, was seen in plane ticket prices. The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) revealed the products with the most significant price increases and decreases in March. Out of the 336 main products listed in the index compared to the previous month, prices of 208 increased while 52 decreased. Green beans took the lead with a 60.36% price increase compared to the previous month, followed by eggplants with 43.88%, zucchinis with 41.93%, bell peppers with 41.73%, and intercity bus tickets with 34.58%. Other items that saw notable price hikes include men’s barber services-haircuts by 25.23%, lemons by 24.96%, tomatoes by 21.92%, cauliflower by 19.64%, garlic by 19.06%, bananas by 17.25%, and onions by 16.11%. Last month, bell peppers rose by 12.17%, daily car rental fees by 11.3%, cologne by 9.65%, green onions by 8.79%, ice cream by 8.55%, and potatoes by 8.42%. THE PRODUCT WITH THE HIGHEST PRICE DROP: PLANE TICKET While the product with the highest price drop in March compared to the previous month was plane tickets at 26.03%, following closely were porcelain household items by 14.19%, curly lettuce by 7.98%, and olive oil by 2.89%. Prices also decreased for dining room sets by 2.19%, fish by 2.18%, deodorants by 1.75%, peanuts by 1.23%, crushed red pepper by 0.91%, and instant soups by 0.39.
