Fenerbahçe Delivered Profits in the Stock Market in the First Quarter

Fenerbahçe stocks pleasantly surprised investors with a 3.2% increase in the first quarter of the year. In the same period, Galatasaray stocks experienced a 1.5% decline. Meanwhile, Beşiktaş shares witnessed a sharp decrease. Among sports clubs traded on the Borsa Istanbul, Fenerbahçe Football AŞ was the only sports company to provide gains to investors by completing the first quarter with a 3.2% increase in its shares. The selling pressure seen on sports companies on the stock market last year continues this year as well. While the Borsa Istanbul observed a fluctuating trend in the first quarter of the year, a downward trend prevailed in sports companies’ shares. The unsatisfactory financial situations of sports companies together with their overall performance on the playing field guided the valuation of their shares. As a result of these developments, the sports index calculated on the Borsa Istanbul lost 4.5% in the January-March period. Fenerbahçe Football AŞ, completing the first quarter with a 3.2% increase in its shares, was the only sports company to provide gains to its investors during this period. Beşiktaş shares experienced a sharp decline. Fenerbahçe, a top contender in the Super Lig, continues to vie for the championship title. The effective transfers made by the club also contributed to the increase in the value of its shares. Meanwhile, the shares of leader Galatasaray led to a 1.5% loss for investors during this period. Beşiktaş, distant from the league’s summit, experienced a 28.1% decline in its shares during the same period. Trabzonspor Sportif Yatırım ve Futbol İşletmeciliği shares showed a sideways trend in the first quarter of the year. In March, the sports company providing the highest gains to its investors was Galatasaray with a 7% increase. Galatasaray was followed by Trabzonspor with 1% and Fenerbahçe with 0.8%. Beşiktaş, on the other hand, led to a 22.5% loss for investors last month. Fenerbahçe, the sports club with the highest market value among the 4 publicly traded sports companies, completed March with a market value of 12 billion 95 million liras. Following Fenerbahçe were Galatasaray with a market value of 10 billion 692 million liras, Trabzonspor with 7.5 billion liras, and Beşiktaş with 4 billion 56 million liras.
