Fake insured individuals under scrutiny: 400 insured workers in a 40-square-meter shop!

The fight against informal employment continues. Last year, it was determined that 2,114 workplaces were fake, leading to the cancellation of the insurance of 94,740 people who were shown as insured through fake workplaces but did not actually work or pay insurance premiums. In the recent inspections by the Social Security Institution (SGK), it was found that 400 textile workers were falsely registered as insured in a 40-square-meter shop located in a building in the Fatih district of Istanbul. As part of the fight against informal employment, the SGK is closely monitoring fake workplaces and fake insured individuals through the “Fake Insured Individuals and Fake Workplace Monitoring Platform.” Last year, within the scope of combating informal employment, 124,982 workplaces were inspected, with 12,684 of them related to fake workplaces and fake insured individuals. Out of these inspections, 2,114 workplaces were identified as fake, resulting in the cancellation of insurance for a total of 94,740 individuals who were falsely shown as insured or had insurance premiums paid while not actually working. Due to informal employment, a total of 2,036,732 million Turkish lira in fines were imposed on these workplaces. In efforts to integrate workplaces and employees into the social security system, the insurance of 21,634 individuals and the registration of 518 workplaces were secured. WITH TWO TABLES IN THE SHOP The inspections targeting informal employment, fake workplaces, and fake insured individuals are carried out by around 3,000 inspectors. It was discovered that 400 textile workers were falsely registered as insured in a 40-square-meter shop located in a building in the Fatih district of Istanbul. Some of the insured individuals were found to reside in different provinces. The shop, measuring 40 square meters, was observed to have two tables and 10 chairs. 540 FAKE INSURED INDIVIDUALS Inspectors also revealed that in a different province, a company operating as a consultancy firm in an apartment had 540 fake insured individuals.
