The Ministry of Trade has announced the export data for the period of January-February. While export increased in 34 provinces, precious stones ranked first in Istanbul’s exports with 909 million dollars. According to the data released by the Ministry of Trade, Istanbul was the province with the highest exports last month, reaching 4 billion 340 million dollars. The city’s exports decreased by 0.3% compared to the same month last year. Following Istanbul, Kocaeli with 2 billion 667 million dollars and a 5.5% increase, and Izmir with 1 billion 875 million dollars and a 12.4% decrease were next in line. The category of precious or semi-precious stones took the lead in Istanbul’s exports with 909 million 895 thousand dollars. This was followed by 427 million 560 thousand dollars for knitted clothing and accessories, and 402 million 5 thousand dollars for boilers and machinery. In Kocaeli, motor vehicles were the sector with the highest export sales at 1 billion 43 million 739 thousand dollars. This was followed by 269 million 707 thousand dollars for mineral fuels, mineral oils, and 187 million 241 thousand dollars for electrical machinery and equipment. Mineral fuels and mineral oils were at the top of Izmir’s exports with 542 million 755 thousand dollars. This was followed by 174 million 989 thousand dollars for iron and steel, and 145 million 837 thousand dollars for boilers and machinery. BAE (United Arab Emirates) ranked first in Istanbul’s exports with 344 million 201 thousand dollars. It was followed by Germany with 314 million 535 thousand dollars and the USA with 299 million 827 thousand dollars. Kocaeli made the most exports to Germany with 248 million 911 thousand dollars. This was followed by 243 million 348 thousand dollars to the UK, and 183 million 747 thousand dollars to Italy. Germany was the country to which Izmir made the most exports with 174 million 878 thousand dollars. This was followed by Italy with 173 million 761 thousand dollars and the Netherlands with 111 million 786 thousand dollars. Therefore, 10 provinces made exports exceeding 1 billion dollars in the January-February period, while 34 provinces increased their exports.
