EPDK’s decision to postpone payments for earthquake-affected regions

The Energy Market Regulatory Authority has decided to postpone advance payments by certain distribution license holders operating in cities affected by the earthquake disaster centered in Kahramanmaraş. The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK), due to the ongoing effects of the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, has taken a decision to impose a state of emergency or declare a disaster zone in certain cities where specific distribution license holders operate, postponing advance payments and waiving default interest for market operator and participant during this period. EPDK’s decision on the matter has been published in the Official Gazette. Accordingly, until December 31, legal entities that hold distribution licenses operating in cities where a state of emergency is declared or a disaster zone is announced, authorized supply companies, and supply companies in which Organized Industrial Zones (OSB) are directly or indirectly partners, shall postpone the amounts specified in the advance payment notifications in accordance with Article 132/C of the Electricity Market Balancing and Settlement Regulation until the final due date of the invoice for the respective invoicing period, and no default interest shall be applied to the market operator and market participants during this period. This decision by the Board will come into effect on April 1st.
