The trade war hit billionaires, with Elon Musk suffering the most. The global economic agenda is dominated by the additional import taxes introduced by US President Donald Trump. As the markets experience strong selling pressure, billionaires have also been affected by this situation.
Elon Musk, holding the title of the world’s richest businessperson, lost 135 billion dollars this year. The main reason for the loss was the decline in Tesla shares. Musk’s wealth fell below 300 billion dollars for the first time since November. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Musk still leads the wealth list with 297.8 billion dollars.
This year, Amazon’s founder Jeff Bezos lost 42.6 billion dollars. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s wealth also decreased by 24.5 billion dollars.
BUFFETT THE ONLY PROFITABLE NAME
The only person among the richest individuals who increased their wealth was Warren Buffett. Despite the turmoil in the markets, he managed to gain 11.5 billion dollars in 2025. Buffett, known as the Oracle of Omaha, is said to have sold shares before the sharp drop on Wall Street. This move reportedly shielded him from losses. With this tactic, Warren Buffett earned the title of the world’s fourth richest person.
