Discovery of 11.5 kilograms of virus-infected tomato seeds

A total of 11.5 kilograms of speckled mottle mosaic virus-infected tomato seeds seized at Antalya Airport were returned to China. A statement from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry General Directorate of Food and Control on their social media account reported that 11.5 kilograms of Chinese-origin tomato seeds intended to enter the country were intercepted at Antalya Airport. It was noted in the statement that the seeds were inspected by inspectors at the airport (officially trained and authorized by the ministry) and due to the detection of Tomato Mottle Mosaic Virus (ToMMV), they were returned to their origin.
