Decrease in Unemployment Rate

In Turkey, the unemployment rate in February was announced as 8.2 percent. The number of unemployed decreased by 95 thousand people to 2 million 886 thousand. The unemployment rate among youth rose to 15 percent. The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) revealed the unemployment figures for February. Accordingly, the number of unemployed individuals aged 15 and over decreased by 95 thousand people compared to the previous month, reaching 2 million 886 thousand in February. The unemployment rate decreased by 0.2 points to reach 8.2 percent. The unemployment rate was estimated at 6.7 percent among males and 11 percent among females. EMPLOYMENT RATE DECLINED The number of employed individuals decreased by 149 thousand people in February compared to the previous month, dropping to 32 million 314 thousand. The employment rate decreased by 0.3 points to 48.8 percent. This rate was 66 percent among males and 31.9 percent among females. INCREASE IN YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT The unemployment rate among the young population aged 15-24 increased by 0.1 points to reach 15 percent compared to the previous month. In this age group, the unemployment rate was estimated at 10.8 percent for males and 22.7 percent for females.
